Matthew Boden, a recent graduate of Destinations Career Academy of Colorado (CODCA), an online Colorado K12-powered public school, has placed as one of the five scholarship winners out of 108 submissions from across the country in the My Senior Reel, a national K12 competition.
Matthew’s award-winning submission highlighted how his online school experience set him up for success. He shared, “In this video I address how K12 has set me up for the future! From concurrent enrollment classes, to flexibility to get my work done anytime of the day, I would not be where I am today without this school!” His creativity and authenticity stood out to the judges, who evaluated submissions based on creativity, authenticity, and technical proficiency.
As a recent graduate, Matthew has his sights set on attending the Savannah College of Art and Design to pursue his passion for film. This scholarship will support his education and help him achieve his dreams in the film industry.
My Senior Reel competition was open to seniors attending a K12 school. Five student winners were awarded $1,000 scholarships to further their education or pursue other future endeavors. The competition encouraged students to share their online school experiences through creative video submissions. Students submitted videos in .mp4 or .mov formats, discussing topics such as their online school’s contribution to their success, favorite classes, and senior memories. The judging criteria focused on creativity (50%), authenticity (25%), and technical proficiency (25%).
